Italy booked a place at the Beijing Olympics by recording their 10th straight win at the Women's World Cup. Playing without injured captain Eleonora Lo Bianco the European champions beat Cuba 27-25, 25-19, 25-16 to guarantee a top three finish with one match to go. The United States also qualified for Beijing with a crushing defeat of Japan. The Americans won 25-17, 25-14, 25-20.
